At left is a Penny Farthing created by Col Bridgeman.
It is made from plywood and is not drawn to scale.
The wheels were cut from a solid piece using the Scroll Saw. According to Col the hardest part was inserting the axle in the main wheel so that the pedals could be fixed whilst still allowing the wheel to turn.
The curved frame took a few efforts to get it right and the little seat sets it off.
The small stand to hold the bike completes the picture.

 

Charlie produced a carving of a Feline from an unknown timber which he claims is the hardest he
has ever encountered. He needed sharpening gear on hand at all times during its construction.
It was finished off with sanding sealer and automotive top coat clear.
It has a beautiful finish and actually looks like a cat.

 

The ship at left is the “Titanic” made by Col Bridgeman. It was started several years ago (2002) by one of his grandsons who gave it away about a third of the way through. Col has finished it off having to buy the remaining kits which include full details about the ship, the materials needed to complete the project and full instructions.
When he took on the project, some parts were missing, e.g. the rudder which Col had to manufacture himself. There were 92 parts in all required to complete the project and Col spent over $770 for his efforts. Some of the work was very tedious with tweezers needed to insert some parts. There are over 500 portholes in the sides of the ship and they are very small.
His Grandson will turn 21 later this year and guess what will be his present from Col.

The timber is Jacaranda and the tree (including the base), is made from a single piece of
timber which he found in the Trailer as a piece of scrap.
The nuts under the tree are glued on and the base is stained to produce a contrasting colour.
A beautiful object demonstrating a creative mind.

This Bull Bison is a Chris Sturt creation and comes with full equipment.The finish is with Danish Oil, Chris’s favourite finish, with the front section slightly darker than the rest to highlight the hairy section from the rest of the body. The timber is Silky Oak.
