As a community club we provide support wherever we can help. Local schools often approach us to provide ‘kits’ for children to glue and assemble into useful items. Schools tend to look for something different each year to maintain the interest of students, teachers and parents. Consequently, our members have a range of kits they can produce such as money boxes, tool boxes, BBQ caddies, lagerphones, message boards, string art, tissue boxes, jewellery boxes and pencil cases. Kits are all made to size beforehand, sanded and pre drilled for the nails or screws provided. We charge $8.00 per kit. Kits are ordered in advance by the school as to type and number of kits required, then the children glue and assemble the kit on the day under supervision by our members. Participants…

In addition to School projects we provide a prize each year to the Tomaree High School in the form of a Certificate and $100 for their top Woodworking Student. This is known as the “James Crombie Award”, so named after our esteemed member Jim Crombie who is a Life Member of our Club. We give a $100 prize known as the “Ray Belcher Award” to the top woodworking student at St Philip’s Christian College. We also donate 2 x $100 prizes at the Newcastle Show for the winners of the box making and carving sections. We have supported the local Tomaree Hospital with donations and this year we are providing items made by our members as prizes for their Christmas Raffle. We also support the Arts Centre as required.
